My name is Angela Grace Williams. I was born and raised in Phenix City and am a proud product of the Phenix City School System!
I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Columbus State University in May 2008. A few weeks before graduation, I was awarded one of the highest honors of my life – the Columbus State University Faculty Cup (CSU’s highest student honor). After graduation, I decided to go straight through to my masters, which I earned in December 2009. In August 2009, I obtained my first teaching position - Pre-Kindergarten teacher at Dimon Magnet Academy in Muscogee County, where I taught for two years. In 2011, I happily came back home to the Phenix City School System and began teaching 1st grade at Lakewood. This begins my ninth year as a classroom teacher and my seventh year teaching 1st grade at Lakewood!
I have been married for over 11 years to my best friend, Mark Williams - who also teaches in our school system (7th grade Science at PCIS). On January 8, 2011, we welcomed our first child, Cole Bradley, and on July 28, 2012, we welcomed our second son, Eli Daniel. I LOVE being a mom, and my boys are the absolute joy of my life!! We also have two dogs, ToTo (a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix) and Bella (a Mastiff/Lab mix).
From the time I entered kindergarten at Sherwood Elementary, I have loved school and been in awe of the wonderful people that I called “teacher.” When I was in first grade, we had to create posters of what we wanted to be when we grew up and my poster was covered in ABCs, 123s, and a smiling teacher standing before her class. I have chosen education as my profession because I want to help students learn in a way that captivates and engages them. I want to help them achieve those “aha moments” in which they construct new understandings of the world around them. I want to help children on the road to becoming life long learners that continually challenge and question existing knowledge in hopes of reaching deeper, higher-level understandings. With the role of teacher, comes the humbling power to change lives forever and that is exactly what I hope to do for the children that I teach.
Just for fun... here's a list of my favorite things:
